Every Journey starts with a first step forward...

It takes courage to follow your dreams. Even a small step forward can ignite new meanings and values that can make a difference in your life.

My Tennis Journey

I was introduced to Tennis for the first time by watching my family play. I didn't understand the game or how to play it, but it captured my heart. I immediately fell in love with the game when I started learning Tennis with an organized program at a local club. I love the excitement on the court, the smell of the Tennis balls, the evening court lights, the beautiful clothes, and the physical, emotional, and mental challenges.

I developed a tight bond with my coach, and with consistent and enduring motivation, I advanced from a beginner to a competitive level in a concise period. I love Tennis so much that I play with anyone at any level. In competitions, I started to excel in my junior year. I had the honor of training at the Sergi Bruguera Academy, where I won my first academy open title at 17 years old.

I started coaching and earned my professional certificate from the Wingate Academy at 16. I love working with all ages and levels, from toddlers to seniors and beginners to competitors. I work parallel to my development, providing incredible insight into learning applications. I loved leading the summer camp training program and have unforgettable memories from these special times.

I played my way through college, earning my bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. In my Master's and Ph.D. degrees at Clemson University, I worked with the Women's tennis team program as a volunteer coach. I developed the High-Performance Team, where I introduced analytical methods into the programming of an advanced college tennis program. I published my first academic article on how to identify errors in the game and how to understand their root causes.

At Clemson University, I was fortunate to earn sponsorships from the Watts Family Innovation Center and the Creative Inquiry (CI) Program due to my innovative bio-sensing technology research approach. My students were selected to represent Clemson University in the Accelerate Innovation Festival at the Smithsonian History Museum and Industrial and System Engineering Conferences, and they even performed a live demonstration for Clemson's unique donors.

My research focused on understanding the player's tennis performance. When considering fatigue conditions, I analyzed the player's physical capabilities, decision-making, and adaptation. I worked with various collaborators, from students to physicians, and helped contribute to the world of Tennis research.

Currently, I am developing a Leadership component in the professional development of an athlete. It is unclear how some players can reach a competitive and even professional status and achieve outstanding accomplishments while others are far less successful even though they have been exposed to similar training programs. While I do not have the answers, I am working to understand better how to develop human potential from the psychological structure and the functions of performance.

Sincerely,

Dotan Shvorin.
